Just so you remember, an affiliate is someone who advertises someone else’s product and gets paid a commission when people buy from his or her link or advertisement. This sounds good but why wouldn’t one just create their own product and make all the money? This about the over-head and extra expenses that will be involved with that. Affiliate marketing is a great way to start. Once you have earned great money you are going to want to create your own product or eBook and let YOUR affiliates advertise for you.

Today I want to look at the affiliate offers out there and their pros and cons. There are so many out there but I will cover the most widely known and touch on some other experiences I have had being an affiliate. I will lead up to the good one

Private Affiliate Membership:

Many companies belong to one main affiliate program, which I will cover, but some actually do it themselves. I have signed up with a company, actually three, who offered their own program. I thought it would be easier because of all the competition with the bigger programs. One sold dog products, another sold car accessories and the last was a health supplement. Each one of them offered very little resources to assist with your marketing. I can not recall any of them responding to email either. If they did it was obviously no help at all. The bottom line? I made no sales with any of them and eventually received emails from each one of them stating they would no longer be offering an affiliate program. The only thing that was good about these companies is that it was free to sign up. I warn you to stay clear from ANY affiliate program that wants YOU to pay THEM. RESULT- 

Affiliate Network Services:

There are so many affiliate services today I will only touch on a few. These places are where they offer affiliate membership to many major companies. The purpose is to sign up with one and then have access to many thus getting paid from one place. This helps to keep your accounts organized in an easier fashion.  These are free as well. Now, even though you will get excepted to the major affiliate service you will have to apply to each company individually. Not to worry, you will still get one check from one place. One trick to getting accepted is to already have a site up and running. Most, if not all, want to see your site you will be advertising their product on. You can set up a quick site at blogger.com or squidoo.com. It will be enough to get you accepted and you can revise your marketing strategy after you have access to their affiliate tools.

This is just my personal experience with these services, but I found it was too tricky for me. The competition is high and there are many other online places people would search for. However, many people are extremely successful using these places and it is worth your time to go check them out and see what each of them have to offer. Go over their ‘rules’ and then decide if any one of them would be right for you.

Wealthy Affiliate University:

And lastly, we have my favorite of all. Wealthy Affiliate University. Why would this one be my favorite? Yes, they have a paid membership but they do start you off with a free course. This helps you to see the endless possibilities of being an affiliate marketer and to give you a quick jump start into what will be in store for your future as a member. They have endless resources for you to use all inside your membership. You will not be paying thousands of dollars to have multiple resource memberships nor will you have to have hundreds of separate accounts. Your entire online business can be ran from your WA members site. They have forums and tools that can help no matter which affiliate road you choose to take.

Best of all you can earn commissions when people join through your site or links. Because they have a monthly membership this will be residual income for as long as any member that signs up through you stays a member. I may love Amazon but once an item is sold, the deal is over and you must be marketing for new sales. Being an affiliate for an awesome membership is a great sources of residual income.
